A small town in China called Autleer is a very dangerous place for kids JUST to walk to school. Kids that live in Autleer must walk up and down a 2,600-foot mountain to get to school and their homes, their homes are located at the top of the mountain while the school is at the bottom of the mountain. While the children walk up and down the mountain there is only 2 adults walking with them, and only 2 adults to keep hundreds of kids safe. Kids from the age of 6-15 walk down the sheer face of a bluff and attended school for 2 weeks a time.

In Autleer the parents want to relocate the school at the top of the mountain, so the kids won’t feel unsafe or not secured but sadly there was no room for rebuilding a school at the top of the mountain and there was also no room to accommodate the 72 families at the bottom of the hill, the villagers name the unsteady ladders the sky ladders, the “sky ladders”, the sky ladder were built in September of 2016 for the kids to climb up and down the mountain to get to school. The sky ladders are also very unsafe for people to walk on especially, kids from ages from 6-15, because even the older kids could slip down the large mountain if they took a wrong step.

It wasn’t until May that the government saw multiple kids climbing up and down the unsteady ladders on a very dangerous mountain, that they decided to build a temporary staircase that was made out of steel that was steady, and the children would be safe going up and down the staircase. Without the staircase it, took the children 2 HOURS to go up and 90 MINUTES to go down the 2,600-foot mountain. The steel staircase was just until they could find a safer approach to a staircase for people, and kids to climb up a much safe structure
