Have you ever heard of the three-year-old pig that is nearly one thousand pounds, and is a beautiful painter? Well, if you haven’t, her name is Pigcasso and she started her painting career when she was rescued from a South African slaughterhouse in 2016. After Pigcasso was rescued from the slaughterhouse, she was taken to an animal sanctuary near Cape Town. Joanne Lefson, the owner of the animal sanctuary, later found out that Pigcasso LOVED to paint. Since Joanne Lefson knew pigs were highly intelligent creatures, she was searching for ways to keep Pigcasso entertained, when suddenly she came across a paintbrush. Then she gave the paintbrush to Pigcasso, and found out Pigcasso really enjoyed paintbrushes and let alone painting! Once Pigcasso discovered there was such thing as a paintbrush, she started swirling nontoxic paint across canvases to create unique, colorful, and amazing pieces of art! Joanne Lefson even states, “you can’t exactly define what she’s painting, but I can tell you that her style slightly changes depending on her mood, like any great artist.”

Later, Pigcasso’s paintings sold for as much as $4,000 EACH, and so far, she has earned $200,000 for the animal sanctuary she now lives at! Pigcasso even painted a watch to celebrate the year of the pig, but it soon sold out! Pigcasso is a breathtaking pig that will always amaze me and that’s why I chose Pigcasso to write about!
