A new take is being added to a classic circus act. When the animals come out at Circus Roncalli, they’re not really there. Instead, holograms of animals are shown. This could be the future of animal circus acts.

Circus Roncalli, a German circus company, has been limiting the use of animals in their acts since the 1990’s, but recently they’ve stopped using animals altogether. Jan Creamer, the president of Animal Defenders International, told The Dodo, “This is the future of circus—a performance everyone can enjoy.”

While the classic elephants are used in the show, horses and goldfish are also used in the show.  Trapeze artist and clowns are also in the show surrounded by the holographic animals. New Jersey banned the use of exotic and wild animals. With this outcome, animals might be free from preforming in circuses.
